Refrigerant is part of a sealed cooling circuit
An air conditioner depends on the correct refrigerant charge to move heat. If a system is low, the service provider should identify the equipment and refrigerant type and evaluate why the charge is not correct instead of treating every cooling problem as a simple refill.
A recharge does not diagnose the cause by itself
Low refrigerant can be associated with leakage or previous service issues, while other problems can create similar “not cooling” symptoms. A proper evaluation should separate refrigerant-related symptoms from airflow, electrical, thermostat, or equipment faults.
Refrigerant handling is regulated
EPA rules restrict the sale and handling of refrigerants used in stationary air-conditioning equipment, and work that opens the refrigerant circuit generally requires appropriate technician certification. Homeowners should not attempt to add or release refrigerant themselves.
